A Cortland teenager is accused of burglarizing a number of businesses in the Town of Cortlandville on the evening of January 9th.

The 17-year-old boy is charged in connection with break-ins at Coffee Mania, Doug’s Powersports and Grace Christian Fellowship Church.

Cortland County Sheriff’s Investigators say the boy is accused of stealing money and other items from Coffee Mania on State Route 222 then tried, unsuccessfully to get into Doug’s Powersports on Route 281 in Cortlandville.  $1,800 in damage was caused to the doorway.

Authorities say that same evening, the teen got into Grace Christian Fellowship on Fisher Avenue in Cortlandville but nothing was stolen and there was no damage.

The boy is charged with one count of felony burglary for the incidents at Coffee Mania and Grace Christian, criminal mischief and petit larceny for the break-in at Coffee Mania and felony attempted burglary and felony criminal mischief for damaging Doug’s Powersports.

The 17-year-old was arrested at his home February 1 and sent to the Cortland County Jail.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending according to authorities.
