The executive director of the United Way of Broome County appears on the February 13 edition of the weekly local public affairs program to talk about tax preparation help that is available over the next few weeks.

Alan Hertel says seniors and income-eligible residents can have their income taxes prepared by specially-trained Binghamton University accounting students.

Hertel says the program has been successfully operating over the past several years and has resulted in thousands of dollars in refunds for residents.

The tax preparation program is just one of dozens of initiatives offered by the United Way, which represents dozens of charitable and non-profit agencies in Broome County and also operates the full-service information clearing house accessed by residents calling 211.
