A Susquehanna County man is dead and two others are seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Pennsylvania State Route 106 at Oswald Johnson Road in Clifford Township.

Pennsylvania State Police say a Mercury Grand Marquis sedan driven by 30 year old Zachary Dayton of Clifford Township was traveling east when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the road and crossed into the path of a westbound sport utility vehicle driven by 36 year old Robert Swingle of Carbondale.

Troopers say Swingle tried, unsuccessfully, to swerve out of the path of the car.

Dayton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Swingle and his passenger, 24 year old Sean Burnham of Carbondale, reportedly suffered severe injuries and were transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
