The worker told police the lighter had been taped to the side of the small plastic water bottle. He removed the lighter from the side of the bottle before notifying authorities.

There was no indication how long the bottle and lighter had been on the store roof. They may have been tossed from the window of a neighboring building.

Firefighters examined the bottle before removing it from the roof. It apparently contained no hazardous materials.
