Binghamton police have arrested a suspect in connection with one of two stabbings which happened in a span of about two hours.

Detectives have charged a man in connection with an attack during a dinner at a downtown church.

Police have not released the name of the suspect who was taken into custody shortly after the incident late Tuesday afternoon. It happened at the United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton at 42 Chenango Street.

The two men involved in the dispute apparently were arguing over a chair at the dinner.

Investigators are continuing to look for a suspect in a separate assault that happened on the East Side a short time earlier.

In that case, a man sustained facial cuts when he was slashed during a dispute on Robinson Street.
