The mysterious sprucing up inside the abandoned seven-story building at 50 Front Street occurred within the last few weeks.

In late October, dozens of windows on the fourth and seventh floors were defaced with colorful graffiti. Several windows on the building had been smashed.

Sometime after news reports called attention to the vandalism spree inside the massive structure, the spray-painted graffiti markings on windows facing Front Street were removed.

The building that once was home to the Sheraton Inn is expected to be demolished next year for a redevelopment project.

The property is just north of the 60-unit River House apartment building and the Roberson Museum and Science Center.

The Broome County Land Bank Corporation is planning to sell the site to Newman Development Group of Vestal.

Although efforts have been made to try to secure the seven-story structure, intruders have continued to regularly enter the building.
