SUNY Broome Student Housing Building Is Rising
The student housing facility on the SUNY Broome Community College campus in the town of Dickinson is taking shape.
Crews have been working to put multiple prefabricated sections into place along Front Street.
According to college officials, the modules were manufactured in
Scranton by Simplex, Incorporated. A crane places each section on the building's foundation. The sections then are joined together and will become the finished structure.
Ground was broken for the $18 million project seven months ago.
The housing complex is expected to house
about 340 students.
Land on the campus where the building is being erected is leased by the BCC Housing Development Corporation.
The facility is to be ready for fall semester students.
