Another institute of higher education is getting funding to help promote cooperative efforts between the campus and local companies.

SUNY Broome Community College is getting $330,000 for a beefed-up job training program and certification for not only students enrolled at the school but others.

Officials plan to convert the Mechanical Technology Building into a manufacturing center. The program will provide hands-on training and college officials say over a half dozen companies have already signed on.

The renovations are due to start next summer.
