Suffolk County Man Tries to Outrun Authorities in Broome

A Long Island man is accused speeding away from New York State Police at 120 miles an hour on Interstate 81 near exit 7 in Castle Creek.

Troopers say they attempted to stop 20 year old Christopher Nunez of Holbrook at 1:53pm on September 21st after he was seen driving a Honda motorcycle at over 100 miles an hour.

After chasing Nunez for four minutes, the pursuit was called off in the Town of Dickinson over safety concerns.

In those four minutes, Nunez and the pursuing troopers covered almost eight miles.

Nunez was later arrested after he was seen driving the motorcycle in the City of Binghamton.

Nunez is charged with reckless driving, unlawful fleeing a police officer and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.

He was sent to the Broome County Jail on $2,500 bail.
