The 70th Annual Athletics Awards Banquet at Binghamton University was held last (Monday) night at the Events Center. Individual and team honors were presented.  Academic excellence and success in athletic competition were recognized.  The banquet honored seniors who are or have competed in various University athletics programs as well as standout underclassmen.

Major award winners include:

The John Bilos Male Award won by baseball standout Eddie Posavec.  Posavec has helped his team win a pair of America East championships and is a team captain this season.

The John Bilos Female Award won by Sarah Haley for her outstanding track and field career.  She is a two-time America East pole vault champion and a five-time all-conference selection.

The Jake Pitler Award given to Joe Miceli who has excelled on the track and also in the classroom. He is the winner of three America East crowns and was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society.

The Jesse Godfrey Award presented to Gabby Bracchi who was named to the 2016 America East All-Academic Team.  A superb softball player she set the team record for runs scored in a single season with 55 in her junior campaign.

Athlete of the Year awards will be announced in June after all the spring sports seasons conclude.  Several hundred student athletes, parents, family members and staff were on hand for the dinner and festivities.
