"Stella" is a record-setter !!!  The winter storm that dropped over 30 inches of snow on our area has set a new record for the most snowfall ever recorded at the Greater Binghamton Airport over a 24 hour period.  31.3 inches of snow was measured over 24 hours.  That shatters the old mark of 23 inches over a 24-hour period set in February, 1961.

According to National Weather Service Meteorologist David Nicosia the biggest snowstorm this season prior to the last two days was in late November when 27.6 inches fell over a four-day period. Nicosia spoke with Roger Neel on WNBF's  Binghamton Now program.

With the latest snowfall amount Nicosia says the area is knocking on the door of setting a new season record for snowfall accumulation.  The current total snowfall amount recorded at the airport is 127.7 inches.  The record is 131.3 inches set in the 1993-94 season.
