A Binghamton man is accused of stealing a vehicle and leading Binghamton Police, New York State Police and Pennsylvania State Police on a chase on Interstate 81 southbound January 7.

Authorities say they got a report of a car stolen from a shopping plaza in Binghamton and began chasing 32 year old Jesse Cook 5:45 p.m.

Pennsylvania State Police picked up the pursuit at the state line and deployed stop sticks, flatting two tires. But the vehicle continued south on the highway before exiting at Exit 223 in New Milford.  That’s where the vehicle was pinned by troopers when Cook attempted to swerve into the grass back to the highway but drove into the path of a squad car, crashing into it.

Cook is charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing police and several vehicle violations.

There were no injures resulting from the pursuit or minor crash.

Cook is being held in the Susquehanna County Jail.
