Some well-conditioned athletes will be hitting the field of competition bright and early daily over the next several days. But this competition has nothing to do with bogies, birdies or Mulligans. Participants at this event have four paws and wet noses.

The Tioga County Kennel Club and the Susque-Nango Kennel Club’s annual Hickories Circuit Dog Show is being held at the Apalachin Fireman’s Field Day Grounds on Wayside Lane in Apalachin from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Sunday, August 20.

In addition to 125 breeds strutting their stuff, 700 a day competing for Best in Show, there will be clinics, a Police K-9 demonstration and food.

The event is also raising money for the Southern Tier Police Canine Association.

Admission is free and parking is $5.
