Broome County is soon to have one less office supply store.

Staples is closing its store on Upper Front Street in the Town of Chenango next month.

The company emailed customers Thursday, March 24 informing them the doors will close April 16 due to store performance.

There is another Staples on the Vestal Parkway.

There are a about 12 people working at the Front Street location.

Staples is currently in a bid to merge with Office Depot, a move that is being met with resistance by the Federal Trade Commission as anti-comptetitive.
