Southern Tier AIDS Program Special Events Coordinator, Cindy Rotella, appearing on the August 9 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, talks about the work of STAP, the changes that have come since the 1980s in the fight against AIDS and HIV and helping those with the disease manage their condition.

The biggest fundraiser of the year for STAP is the AIDS Ride For Life non-competitive bicycle ride that starts at Stewart Park in Ithaca and travels around Cayuga Lake.

This year's ride is September 13th.

There are 42 mile, 85 mile and 100 mile course options and even an indoor ride for people who don't feel they can ride the 42 miles (or don't want to).

Hundreds of riders are expected from not only all over the country, but all over the world with one rider from France who is already registered.

For more information about STAP and the AIDS Ride For Life including registration forms go to www.stapinc.org.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
