Don Denkinger

Profession: Retired MLB Umpire
Best Known For: An American League umpire from 1969 to 1998, Don Denkinger worked four World Series, three MLB All-Star Games and the one-game playoff in 1978 between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. Denkinger is often remembered by baseball fans for a call he made at first base in Game 6 of the 1985 World Series, when he called Kansas City Royals’ hitter Jorge Orta safe though replays show that he was out. The Royals rallied to beat the Cardinals in Game 6, and they went on to win Game 7 and the World Series.

Ron Guidry
Age: 62
Profession: Retired MLB Player
Best Known For: A four-time All-Star pitcher, Ron Guidry — known as ‘Gator’ or ‘Louisiana Lightning’ — played his entire career with the New York Yankees from 1975 to 1988. Guidry was a member of the Yankees’ teams that won the World Series in 1977 and 1978. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 1978 while having one of the best years ever by a pitcher, finishing 25-3 with a 1.73 ERA.

Scott Hamilton
Age: 54
Profession: Retired Figure Skater
Best Known For: Scott Hamilton is among the most recognizable people in the world of figure skating. He won four consecutive US and World championships from 1981 to 1984 and a gold medal in the 1984 Winter Olympics. Hamilton was one of the few skaters who could back flip while skating. Hamilton battled testicular cancer in 1997 and brain cancer in 2010, recovering from both.

Pierre Turgeon
Age: 43
Profession: Retired NHL Player
Best Known For: A four-time NHL All-Star center, Pierre Turgeon played for the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche from 1987 to 2007. The Sabres selected Turgeon with the first-overall pick of the 1987 NHL Draft. Turgeon finished his career with 515 goals and 1,327 points.

Todd Eldredge
Age: 41
Profession: Retired Figure Skater
Best Known For: A six-time US national figure skating champion, Todd Eldredge competed in the 1992, 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. He won the 1996 World Championship.
