Spiedie Eating Contest to Return to Tioga Downs

Champion eater Joey Chestnut is coming back to the Southern Tier.  Tioga Downs says Major League Eating and Lupos are again hosting a spiedie eating challenge August 8^th at the racino in Nichols.

Chestnut won last year’s inaugural chicken spiedie eating championship in spite of never sampling an authentic spiedie prior to the contest.

Chestnut ate 13.75 Lupos spiedies in ten minutes.

Chestnut admitted there were unique challenges in downing a record number of the Southern Tier’s signature sandwich in ten minutes, including the amount of bread that is involved.

At least four other Major League Eaters, who had competed at the Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island, have signed on for the August contest.

The winner takes a $4,000 purse.
