Speedsville Man Dies in Richford Head-on Crash

A Tompkins County man, who graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1993 is dead following a head-on crash in Tioga County.

Sheriff’s officials say 41 year old Andrew Leigh of Speedsville was driving South on State Route 38 in Richford at around 2 a.m. November 14 when his car crossed into the northbound lane and hit a car driven by 41 year old Kenneth Rauch Junior.

Leigh was pronounced dead at the scene.  Rauch and a passenger were taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for treatment.

Sheriff’s officials say its believed alcohol was a contributing factor.

A paid obituary says Leigh was a street stock and micro sprint motor sports racer.

A memorial service will be held at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley November 22 with family receiving friends at noon prior to the 2 p.m. service.
