The Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus presented a check to CHOW last night for $1,600 to help fight hunger in the area.  CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) Director Michael Leahey accepted the check for CHOW.  The presentation was made during the group's Christmas Concert at the Oakdale Mall.

Money for the contribution was raised from proceeds from the recent Choruses for CHOW benefit concert.  The hunger problem in our area increases during the holiday period.  Many children get nutritious meals at school but with substantial time out of school for the holiday break those students must rely on food at home more than usual.

CHOW is always looking for non-perishable food items in non-breakable containers.  Items like peanut butter, pasta, soups, canned fruits and vegetables and cereal are always welcome.  Monetary donations are also welcome since CHOW is able to purchase various food items at wholesale or discount prices.
