No major flooding is expected on the main rivers in the Southern Tier and Central New York, however, a flood warning is in effect, possibly through Saturday morning.Officials say recent rain and snow melt are causing water levels to go up slowly.

Most rivers in the region are expected to rise to slightly over flood stage and then start to fall.

Residents living near streams, creeks and rivers are advised to keep monitoring water levels and be prepared to take action, if needed.

While no major problems are expected with road flooding, motorists are still reminded they should never attempt to drive through water.
