Gasoline prices are continuing to drop in the Binghamton area and across the country.

Prices at the pump have plunged about 70 cents a gallon over the past four months.

Some gas stations in Broome and Tioga counties had posted prices of less than $3.10 a gallon for regular over the weekend. In some spots, prices were just above three dollars a gallon for customers who used store-issued credit cards.

Prices are even lower in Pennsylvania, which has a lower gas tax than New York state.

Several stations in the Scranton area are posting prices below three dollars a gallon.

The trend may be about to end. Industry observers say they aren't expecting gas prices to drop much more in the coming weeks.
