The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says it has about $228 million budgeted for state-maintained roads this winter and several municipalities have stocked their salt barns with hundred of thousands of tons of salt and sand.

PennDOT says it is currently looking to hire over 500 temporary equipment operators statewide for the season to supplement the full-time staff.  Information on those jobs are available at www.employment.pa.gov.

Motorists traveling through the Keystone State can find and share information about winter travel at www.penndot.gov/winter.
