Snow, Ice Slow Binghamton Morning Commute

Bob Joseph/WNBF News

Several crashes on Twin Tiers highways made for a slow ride to work for thousands of people this morning.

Some of the crashes on snowy, icy roadways involved injuries.

Many school districts opened late because of the hazardous conditions. Some were closed for the day.

The New York State Department of Transportation and other area highway departments were busy from late Monday afternoon trying to keep roads as safe as possible.

The National Weather Service winter weather advisory for the Binghamton area expired at eight o’clock this morning. Forecasters say a bit more snow, along with freezing rain, will continue to create some travel problems around the region.
