Two Binghamton women were terrorized early this morning when someone entered their First Ward residence and fired a gun at least twice.

Authorities say the home invasion happened around 2:00 a.m. at 3 Downs Avenue, a duplex just off Glenwood Avenue.

The women left a bedroom through a window and climbed onto a roof. Police officers using a ladder provided by the fire department assisted the women off the roof.

Residents in the other side of the duplex, who had been asleep at the time the shots were fired, were evacuated because police believed the intruder was still inside the building.

A SWAT team was deployed and officers determined no one remained inside. No injuries were reported.

A section of Downs Avenue was closed for a few hours as police investigated the incident.

People with information about the case may contact the city police detective division at 607.772.7080.
