Former iconic child star and U.S. Ambassador, Shirley Temple Black has passed away at the age of 85.

While she moved into the world of politics as an adult, she will probably forever be known as America's child star.

Temple Black died last night surrounded by family at her home near San Francisco.

She started her acting, dancing and singing career in 1938 at the age of 7.
