A Broome County man was being held after he allegedly caused significant damage at a town of Windsor home during a domestic dispute.

Authorities say 35-year-old Brett Hines was charged with criminal mischief and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Hines also faces a charge of harassment.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a residence on Route 79 on Sunday to investigate a disturbance involving a man and a woman.

Officials say Hines had left before deputies arrived at the home.

Investigators say during the dispute, he punched the woman as she held a five-day-old baby. He also was said to have smashed several flat screen televisions and punched "numerous holes" in the walls of the residence.

Hines later was taken into custody by a state trooper in Harpursville.

Hines was arraigned in Windsor town court and sent to Broome County Jail on $400 bail.
