Fire officials around the region are being kept busy with numerous reports of blazes.

Fire crews from the Town of Maine and five other departments were able to contain a blaze at a house on Old Newark Valley Road in the Town of Maine shortly after 6:30 p.m. February 11 to the front of the house.

A woman and two children in the house were able to get out safely.

Fire crews say they were challenged by huge piles of snow as they attempted to battle the flames in the two-alarm fire.

Officials say they believe that the fire was the result of an electrical malfunction

Meanwhile, officials say a chimney fire quickly spread flames through a home on Glendale Drive in West Corners at around 12:45 a.m. February 12.

Fire crews from West Corners, Endicott, West Endicott and Union Center responded to the scene.

There were no reports of injuries.

Fire crews remained on the scene of that blaze for hours.
