Students, staff, parents and fans turned out this afternoon to salute the Seton Catholic Central Saints baseball team for their victory in the New York State High School Baseball Championship on Saturday.  The Saints defeated Geneseo 9-0 to win the championship at Broome Community College.

Seton Catholic Central High School Prinicpal Richard Bucci addressed the team and officially accepted the championship plaque for the school.  Head Coach Jim Miller spoke about the journey to the championship game and acknowledged the hard work done by his staff and his team to get to be the best in New York.

The Saints were able to advance to the title game on Saturday on the arm of Michael Korchak who tossed a four-hit shutout against Pierson-Bridgehampton for a 1-0 victory.  Then fellow southpaw Pat Gosney fired another complete game shutout in a 9-0 win over Geneseo in the championship game. That clinched Seton's first-ever state title.
