The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that resulted in serious injuries Sunday in the Town of Colchester.

Officials say 44 year old Shawn Maynard of Randolph was traveling east on State Highway 30 when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit an earth embankment.

His vehicle overturned and his passenger, 20 year old Candice Brown of Salamanca was ejected.

Brown is listed in critical condition at Wilson Hospital while Maynard was treated at Delaware Valley Hospital and released.

Officials say speed combined with alcohol and drug use may have contributed.

The investigation is continuing and Sheriff’s Deputies say Maynard could face criminal charges following the results of toxicology tests and collision reconstruction.
