New York State Police responded to the report of a car/pedestrian collision on Peru Road at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday, February 3.

Authorities say they don’t know why 39 year old Robert Pless was walking south in the middle of the northbound lane.

He was hit by a 2004 Mazda RX8 driven by a Freeville man.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed against the driver.

Pless reportedly suffered serious head injuries and was air-lifted to University Hospital in Syracuse where he was listed in critical condition.
