A Bronx man is expected to spend three and a half years in New York State Prison and five years on probation for stabbing a man near the Broome County Library on Court Street in Binghamton.

51 year old Wilfredo Hernandez earlier this month pleaded guilty to attempted felony assault in the January 17th incident in which 30 year old Kendu Johnson was wounded in a dispute over money.

Hernandez is scheduled to be sentenced May 28.

Police say Johnson was stabbed in the chest near the library parking lot and was found a short distance away lying on the ground, bleeding.

Hernandez and Johnson were seen on library surveillance video shortly after 4:30 that afternoon and several witnesses contacted authorities after new about the stabbing had been released.

Officials arrested Hernandez three days after the incident.

Police say the dispute revolved around an argument concerning a small amount of money that had occurred several months before the stabbing.

Hernandez had originally been charged with felony attempted murder and attempted assault.
