Former Broome County executive Barbara Fiala says she's the right person to represent the 52nd Senate district in Albany.

Fiala - who also served as Department of Motor Vehicles commissioner in the Cuomo administration - discussed some of the issues she'll be running on during a live interview on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program.

The interview aired on August 3, 2015, just minutes before Broome County undersheriff Frederick Akshar announced he would run as a Republican candidate.

The seat became vacant on July 22 when Thomas Libous was convicted of a felony count of lying to the FBI.
