Section 4 semifinal football playoffs get underway Friday night and continue through Saturday.  Winners this weekend advance to the championship round of their respective classifications next weekend.

In Friday night action the Binghamton Patriots host Horseheads at 7:00 PM at Alumni Stadium in a "AA" semifinal.  The Patriots are the second seed while Horseheads is the third seed.  Saturday at 1:30 number one seed Elmira hosts fourth seed Corning.  The "AA" championship game is scheduled for a 6:00 P.M. kickoff at U-E's Ty Cobb Stadium next Saturday.

Both Class B semifinals are Saturday at 1:30 P.M.  Top seed and number one in the state Chenango Forks hosts Norwich while the other semifinal pits Owego against Maine-Endwell at Spartan Stadium.  WNBF will broadcast that game with kickoff at 1:30 P.M.  The two winners meet at U-E next Saturday at 3 P.M.

With only two Class A schools Vestal and Union-Endicott have this weekend off and will meet next Friday at 8:00 P.M for the Class A title. The site is to be determined.

Other action on Saturday features Class C and Class D doubleheaders.  C semifinals are being played at Alumni Stadium in Binghamton.  In the 1 P.M. game third-seed Newark Valley meets second-seed Waverly.  That game will be followed by Watkins Glen/Odessa Montour meeting top-seed Susquehanna Valley at 4:00 P.M.

In Class D semifinals at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott third-ranked Sidney meets Greene at 1:00 PM with Tioga versus Walton at 4.
