This weekend is the weekend area high school football teams have been shooting for since training camp began in August.  The Section 4 Championships are being held this Friday and Saturday.  Section 4 winners will advance to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Quarter-final round next weekend hosted by Section 4.

Getting things started on Friday night is a doubleheader at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott.  Starting things off at 5 PM the Maine-Endwell Spartans meet the Johnson City Wildcats for the Class B title.  The Spartans are the reigning Class B State Champions and are 9-0.  They meet Johnson City who comes in at 6-3.  One of those losses was to the Spartans by a final score of 39-3.  The AA title is on the line at 8 PM Friday when the Binghamton Patriots have a re-match with the Elmira Express.  Elmira rolled by Binghamton in the regular season 32-14.

On Saturday Binghamton's Alumni Stadium will host a triple-header.  At Noon undefeated Tioga meets 8-1 Unatego for the D Championship.  At 3 PM the Class C title is up for grabs as Chenango Forks tackles Waverly.  The Forks comes into the Championship game with an 8-1 slate while Waverly is 7-2. The nightcap features two long-time rivals squaring off as the Union-Endicott Tigers meet Vestal for the Class A title.  U-E won the regular season title and defeated the Golden Bears 29-6 in September.
