Another company is looking to get into the medical marijuana business with a location in Broome County.

According to filings with New York State, Wayne county pharmaceutical company, Butler Evergreen has filed for a license to manufacture and dispense medicinal marijuana with the manufacturing done in Wayne County and distribution at a facility on a busy stretch of the Vestal Parkway East.

The information comes days after Salus Scientific of Syracuse announced it had submitted a bid for a distribution and manufacturing center, paired with Binghamton University’s future pharmacy school in Johnson City, at the former Giants Supermarket Warehouse at 100 Oakdale Road in Johnson City.

43 developers had submitted bids for medical manufacturing licenses in New York State.  Only five licenses are to be awarded.

The developers awarded licenses would be allowed to operate up to four distribution centers on sites aside from the manufacturing facility.  Salus has said, if it wins the bid, one of its distribution centers would be located in Vestal.

The State is expected to make a decision on the award of the licenses in the next few days.
