Pennsylvania State Police say a  missing dementia patient in Susquehanna County that has been the point of a wide-spread search since 4 p.m. August 26 has been found in Broome County .

Officials say 76 year old Shelby Colwell walked away from her home at the Howard Emerson Apartments on Lackawanna Avenue in Hallstead at around 3:55 p.m. August 26 and was seen going north on Main Street a few minutes later.

She was found close to 24 hours later sitting along the banks of the Susquehanna River near railroad tracks in Conklin.

Officials said she appeared to be in good physical condition.

Shortly after 10 in the morning, the Conklin Fire Department was called in to assist in the search.

Authorities thanked the volunteer searchers and all the concerned residents involved in looking for Colwell for their help.
