Executive Director of the Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter, Jay Peak and Director of Patient Education and Support, Mary Beth Bobik-Kadylak appear on the May 10 local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up to talk about the auto-immune disease that many people don't know much about.

Bobik-Kadylak says there are many mysteries surrounding Scleroderma including, its cause, a cure, the many variations of the disease and its triggers.

A basic explanation of the disease is it involves a build up of collagen in connective tissues including ligaments and even the skin.

The 2014 Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Binghamton is scheduled for Sunday, June 1, starting with 9 a.m. registration at Otsiningo Park and the walk starts at noon.

Money raised will go toward research and support services.

Registration is available online at www.walks.SclerodermaTriState.org. The website closes at 12:01 a.m. May 30.

More information about the Foundation can be found at www.SclerodermaTriState.org or by calling the Chapter office at (800)867-0885.
