Two area businesses are collecting school supplies to honor a Union Endicott kindergarten teacher who was killed in an alligator attack in South Carolina last week.

Supplies of items like pencils, backpacks and paper in memory of Cassandra Cline are being collected at Southern Tier Dermatology and Hair Studio Six, both located on Hooper Road in Endwell until September 8.

Meanwhile a celebration of Cline’s life is to be held Saturday, September 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Barber Memorial Home on Main Street in Johnson City.

In addition to the school supply drive, people can remember the educator by making donations in her name to “Scholarship Opportunities for U-E Tigers” in the Union Endicott School District.
