While the Twin Tiers didn't get a lot of freezing precipitation overnight January 17-18, school officials from Wayne County, Pennsylvania to Broome County reported extremely slick conditions even on dirt roads causing a slew of delays January 18.

One school official in Northeastern Pennsylvania said he even had to drive his truck partially in a ditch to get some traction on a rural dirt road.

The conditions still are not as bad as the icing on January 11 when schools first delayed and many later closed as the ice made it impossible to even walk.

One official summed it up: "It's called winter in the Southern Tier."
