Officials in a Delaware County school district report a half dozen children were hurt when their school bus collided with a pickup truck December 14.

Officials say the Downsville Central School bus hit the truck as the pickup slid on slippery roads at around 7:30 a.m. in the Town of Hancock on State Route 30.

Only minor injuries were reported and parents were notified.  As per policy, the children who suffered bumps and bruises were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Parents were given the option of signing their children out of classes for the day.

There were 31 children on the bus at the time.

Another bus was sent to take the remaining children to school and the damaged school bus was towed from the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck reportedly was not hurt.
