Hundreds of NYSEG customers were without electricity in the Southern Tier and across upstate New York Tuesday afternoon.

Most of the outages were believed to be related to the strong winds that were bringing down power lines and tree limbs.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, NYSEG reported 219 Broome County customers were without electric service. Most of the affected customers were in the towns of Windsor and Colesville.

At that point in the afternoon, the utility was aware of 10 customers in Tioga County who were without power. The majority of those customers were in the town of Owego.

Across NYSEG's New York State service area, a total of 3700 customers were reported to be without electric service.
