The American Heart Association is helping fight heart disease with two events this month.  The AHA is holding its 24th annual Heart Walk on Sunday, April 28 at Binghamton University.  Registration begins at 10 AM and the Walk begins at 12:30 PM.  The Walk is either a one mile or three mile event on the campus of Binghamton University.

One Sunday prior to the Heart Walk the Run For Your Heart Coal House 5K will be held at the Vestal Rail Trail.  The run begins at 1:00 PM.  Last year's run was held at Binghamton University on the same day as the Heart Walk.

You can register for the 5K run or Heart Walk at www.SouthernTierHeartWalk.org.  Participants in the Heart Walk are encouraged to make a personal donation and also to help raise money by forming a team or walking with friends and family members.  There is a pre-registration 5K entry fee of $20 with shirt and $15 without shirt.  Race Day registration is $20 without shirt.

Proceeds from both events benefit the American Heart Association and help to fund research and new treatment methods in the battle against heart disease and stroke.
