The much-anticipated promotion of Binghamton Rumble Ponies' first baseman Peter Alonso has happened.  Alonso may have played his final game as a Rumble Pony in the team's 9-2 loss to Altoona on Thursday.  Several sources report he is headed to Las Vegas and replaces Dom Smith who was promoted to the New York Mets when they released veteran Adrian Gonzalez a few days ago.

Along with Alonso fellow infielder Jeff McNeil has gotten the call.  The power-hitting infielder hit .327 with the Rumble Ponies.  He slammed 14 home runs and drove in 43 runs in 220 at bats.

Alonso has been on fire in the Eastern League.  In Binghamton he was hitting .314 with 15 home runs, 12 doubles and 52 runs batted in while seeing action in 65 games.

Binghamton completed a three-game series against the Altoona Curve yesterday.  The Rumble Ponies begin a six-game road trip tonight (Friday) at 7:05 (air at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). in Hartford against the Yard Goats. Binghamton returns home next Friday, June 22 to host the Yard Goats at NYSEG Stadium.
