Along with a new name comes a new field manager for Binghamton's Eastern League baseball franchise.  Luis Rojas has been named the new skipper of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.  He takes over for Pedro Lopez who spent the past five seasons as manager of the Binghamton Mets.  He moves up the ladder and takes over as manager of the Las Vegas 51's, New York's Triple-A affiliate.

Rojas managed the St. Lucie Mets for the past two seasons and before that piloted the Gulf Coast League Mets in 2011.  In 2012, 2013 and 2014 Rojas was at the helm of the Savannah Sand Gnats, also in the Mets' organization.

Joining the new manager on the field will be two Binghamton veterans.  Glenn Abbott returns for his sixth season as pitching coach.  Abbott spent 11 seasons pitching in the Major Leagues.  Also returning is hitting coach Luis Natera.  Natera is coming back for his tenth season in Binghamton and 26th year with the New York Mets organization.

The Rumble Ponies begin the Eastern League season on April 6 in New Hampshire.  Binghamton is scheduled to open at home a week later on April 13 against Erie.
