New York State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of a crash June 7 that claimed the life of a Deposit man.

Authorities say 50 year old Michael Servetas was driving his pickup truck the wrong way on New York Route 17 Eastbound near Hancock shortly after 1:30 a.m. when the truck slammed into an eastbound car driven by 26 year old Brittany Hertlein of New Haven, Connecticut.

Servetas was pronounced dead at the scene.

At last report, Hertlein was in the Intensive Care Unit at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.

In addition to resources of the New York State Police Kirkwood barracks, personell from the Broome County Emergency Services division, Deposit fire and Emergency Medical Crews from Sidney were called to the scene.
