A Binghamton man is in custody following a short standoff with authorities on Clarke Street in the City.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say they stormed a home April 19 with information that a man wanted for an armed robbery in the Town of Chenango was in the area.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say 29 year old Kareem Gibson is accused of stealing money from someone at gun-point at around 9:30 p.m. on April 17 on Castle Creek road near Upper Front Street in the Town of Chenango. 

The Sheriff’s Office, Binghamton Police and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Gibson and charged him with robbery.

Officials say Gibson is also wanted for a parole violation.

Officials had found Gibson at the McDonald’s on Main Street and chased him to the Clarke Street home of an acquaintance before taking him into custody.

The person who was robbed in the Town of Chenango was not injured.

Gibson is being held in the Broome County Jail.
