The UMBC Retrievers were too much for the Binghamton men's basketball team last (Thursday) night  at the Events Center in Vestal.  The Retrievers defeated BU 78-68 to up their record to 8-3 in the conference while the Bearcats drop to 1-10.

UMBC took a 41-28 lead at the half and the Bearcats were unable to mount a big enough charge to overcome the margin in the second half despite outscoring the Retrievers 40-37 in the second 20 minutes.  Joe Sherburne was the major force behind the win for UMBC.  He led all scorers with 24 points including a 4-6 showing from three-point range.

The Bearcats were led by J.C.Show who scored 23 points including 15 points coming from five three-point baskets.  Also striking double digits for the Bearcats were Albert Odero with 14 points and Thomas Bruce with 10.  Bruce registered a double-double grabbing 12 rebounds.
