Retired Binghamton Priest Sentenced for Viewing Porn

A former Binghamton-area priest will be monitored by authorities after being sentenced to probation and ordered to register as a low-level sex offender for viewing child pornography.Prosecutors say retired priest Robert Ours was sentenced to probation for viewing the porn on a nun’s computer.

Ours was sentenced to ten years probation in Onondaga County Court.

The District Attorney had asked to send Ours to prison for one to three years, but a plea deal resulted in the retired priest being sentenced to probation and the order to register as a level on sex offender.

Ours was a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Syracuse, working in the Binghamton area most of the time.

He retired in 2012 and reportedly viewed the porn while living in a home for retired priests near Syracuse.
