Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Agricultural goods produced and processed in New York state are being featured in some rest stop vending machines.

State officials say the "Taste New York" vending machines have been placed in Broome County and north of Albany.

The state-produced items are being offered for sale at the Gateway Welcome Center on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood and at the Clifton Park rest area on Interstate 87 in Saratoga County.

Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball says the machines will provide travelers with an opportunity to directly sample New York foods and beverages.

The Department of Agriculture and Markets is working with the New York State Commission for the Blind and the state Department of Transportation to coordinate the vending initiative.
