Students in Binghamton have a slightly greater voice in local government with the election of 19 year old Binghamton University student Conrad Taylor to City Council’s 4th district.

The Democrat will be in the minority with Republicans gaining control of City Council winning in the first, second, fifth and sixth districts.

According to unofficial results, Assistant SUNY Broome Community College Economics Professor, Republican Giovanni Saringi defeated incumbent Democrat, Jerry Monsavage in the first district.

Incumbent Joseph Milhalko won reelection in the second district.

Democrat Dani Cronce beat Republican Joshua Miller in the third.

Taylor’s victory in the 4th was over Republican John Cordisco.

Republican Chris Papastrat won reelection in the 5th.

Incumbent Republican John Matzo also won reelection in the 6th and City Council President, Democrat Bill berg was reelected in the 7th district.
